In the Spotlight: Tenerife

What are good travel destinations for you as a birdwatcher? To help birders find the right birding destinations we have started a new kind of infopage on Birdingplaces: ‘In the spotlight’. We kick off with Tenerife, the best place to see the endemic birds of the Canary Islands.

New bird shirts: Hoopoe and White-tailed Eagle

Anne wins Leica Trinovid on Dutch Birdfair

The Landelijke Dag is the biggest birdfair in the Netherlands and was held this year on Saturday 26 November. Birdingplaces was present with a stand and organized a giveaway. Anne Schumacher was drawn as the winner of a pair of Leica Trinovid 10x32 HD binoculars.

How to rate a birdingplace

By rating bird areas on Birdingplaces you make it easier for other birders to choose which areas to visit. Rating an area takes less than a minute. This is how it works.

Tom, Susana and Francesco win Leica binoculars

In december 2021 we started a winter contest together with Leica. Any birder who added a birdwatching area had a chance to win high quality Leica binoculars. Tom from England, Francesco from Italy and Susana from Spain were the lucky winners.

New: Add your images to a birdingplace

You can now add images of birds (or landscapes) to any birdingplace. Not only to areas you have added yourself but also to those of other users. So if you have beautiful bird pictures or a nice atmospheric photo of the landscape, you can now add them to an area.

Jalle wins Leica Telescope with vote for Common Crane

More than 4000 birders voted for their favourite migratory bird in the Bird Migration Competition. With his vote for the Common Crane Jalle Hiltunen from Sweden was the lucky winner of a Leica APO-Televid 82 spotting scope.

Hannah and HGON win Leica binoculars and telescope
