Birdingplaces continues to grow rapidly outside Europe and birders from many new countries are joining. But also inside Europe we keep growing fast. Therefore we are looking for new volunteers that would like to join us.
Birdingplaces is a platform that is run by volunteers and our 'country editors' play an important role in this. Country editors are volunteers who edit new area descriptions that are added to the Birdingplaces map. Is the text okay? Is the map okay? Is the birdlist okay? Is all the information correct or is something missing? After you have checked and edited the description, you are the one who places the area online with the Publish button. Good editors are therefore very important for Birdingplaces. Is this fun and interesting work something for you?
For smaller countries such as the Netherlands, Costa Rica or Portugal we usually have one country editor per country. For larger countries we have multiple country editors. In larger countries each country editor then has their own province, region or state under his/her care. For example: in the USA every state has its own country-editor. In addition to editing new areas country-editors also help to update and improve already published descriptions. In this way, country editors contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of information on Birdingplaces. Another important task!
Some of the countries for which we can still use country editors include Denmark, Ireland, Austria, USA (various states), Australia (various states), Bulgaria, South Germany, India, Belgium, Turkey, Hungary, Portugal, Czech Republic and Thailand.
If you are interested in volunteering as a country editor for Birdingplaces, please send an email to info@birdingplaces.eu
