How to rate a birdingplace

By rating bird areas on Birdingplaces you make it easier for other birders to choose which areas to visit. Rating an area takes less than a minute. This is how it works.

Step 1: Log in on Birdingplaces. (if you don't have an account , create a free account here

Step 2: Go to the area you want to rate and click on the stars on top of the page (see the blue arrow).

Note: If the area is not yet rated, instead of the stars you see the line ‘Rate with 1 to 5 stars’.

Step 3: A box appears where you can select ⭐ to ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars.  You can also select a half star. (see the yellow arrow below)

A suggestion for how many stars to give a birding area

⭐ Not very special

⭐⭐ Basic birding

⭐⭐⭐ Nice birding

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really good birding

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic birding

Besides the beauty of an area and the wealth of birds, other factors can also be a reason to give an area 5 stars. For example, whether a special or rare bird can be seen in the area, whether there are spectacular breeding colonies or whether it is a special place to observe bird migration. For example, some very unattractive areas (such as some industrial areas or ports) can still be worth five stars.

Step 4: Click on ‘Save rating’ (see the green arrow above) and you are done.
