Shallow inlet of the Slotermeer with shallow water, wide reed beds and here and there some plants. Mainly ducks and reed birds.
Wikelerhop has mainly ducks and reed birds. In the autumn there are usually Tufted Duck, Common Pochard, Eurasian Wigeon, etc and sometimes Smew and Goosander. In the reed areas usually Bearded Tit, Reed Bunting and Western Marsh Harrier flying by. In the breeding season a lot of Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Marsh Warbler but also a chance of Water Rail and lately also Cetti's Warbler.

Nederlands: Wikelerhop is een ondiepe inham van het Slotermeer met ondiep water, brede rietzomen en hier en daar wat beplanting. Vooral eenden en rietvogels. Op het water zitten in het najaar veelal Tufted Duck, Common Pochard, Eurasian Wigeon, etc en soms Smew en Goosander. In de rietlanden meestal wel Bearded Tit, Reed Bunting en langs vliegende Western Marsh Harrier. In de broedtijd veel Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Marsh Warbler maar ook kans op Water Rail en de laatste tijd Cetti's Warbler.
The area can only be visited on foot via the quay on the east side. Path continues to the Slotermeer. The west side can be reached on foot via a footpath that runs through Bargebek and continues over the quay to the summer bungalow complex on the Slotermeer. The circular walk across Balk is approximately 8 km. The walk is signposted.

Nederlands: Het gebied is alleen te bezoeken te voet over de kade aan de oostzijde. Pad loopt door tot aan het Slotermeer. De westzijde is te voet te bereiken via een wandelpad dat loopt via Bargebek en doorloopt over de kade naar het zomerhuisjes complex aan het Slotermeer. De rondwandeling over Balk is ongeveer 8 km. Er is wandelmarkering aangebracht.
