Description

Llandegla Forest is one of the few places in Wales to see Black Grouse lekking. The RSPB have a hide and as of 2022, guided walks, see their website. Among the other birds you can observe in the area are Eurasian Nightjar, Red Grouse, Meadow Pipit, Short-eared Owl, Merlin, European Stonechat, Whinchat, Common Cuckoo, Song Thrush, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Common Buzzard, Red Kite, Hen Harrier and Northern Wheatear.

Access

8 miles west of Wrexham on the Ruthin road. Click on the P in the map for directions. Bus X51 runs hourly, Mon to Sat and 2-hourly Sundays from either town. Nearest train station, Wrexham.
