An open area of heather moorland with lots of wildlife about.
Langholm Moor is a beautiful area of heather moorland which has just been bought by the local community, not far from the village of Langholm. It already has breeding Hen Harrier, Short-eared Owl and Merlin, but the community have big plans to protect and increase the breeding birds that make this wonderful place their breeding ground, well worth a trip. Among the other birds you can spot in the area are European Golden Plover, Peregrine Falcon, Eurasian Skylark, Meadow Pipit, European Stonechat, Northern Wheatear, Eurasian Curlew and Ring Ouzel.
Langholm Moor is best explored on foot or bike. The area is within walking distance of Langholm village.
