Adjacent to Chesil Beach, this is an area of tidal lagoon and shingle slopes.
At nearby Chesil Beach is a seasonal breeding colony of Little Tern, which is monitored and guarded by volunteers. Near to the visitor centre is a wetland that attracts waders and seabirds; there have been important national rarities found here, particularly during migration seasons - checkout the Portland Bird Observatory website for current information.
The main road from Weymouth to Portland passes the carpark and there are bus services. The postcode is DT4 9XE. On the site, all access is on foot, sometimes on boardwalk, more often on shingle slopes.
