Description

I was amazed to see that the harbour at low tide is a popular roosting area for autumn migrant flocks of European Golden Plover and Little Tern. Large numbers of Little Auk, Little Gull, Great Skua, Arctic Skua, Long-tailed Skua, Manx Shearwater, Sooty Shearwater, Kittiwake and Northern Fulmar can be seen from the clifftop walk east of town.

Beyond the Seaton Cliffs reserve, 3 miles on foot from Arbroath, is Seaton Den, a wooded valley frequented by migrant passerines. Rarities like Yellow-browed Warbler, Icterine Warbler, Red-breasted Flycatcher and Barred Warbler may turn up in autumn.

Cliffs can be steep, take care with children and dogs. There is a tarmac path.
