A historic park with mature trees. Originally the garden of Topkapi Palace. It is just on edge of the top touristic attractions. Good spot for urban birding.

Description

Gülhane Park is very close to all main touristic attractions in Istanbul. Easy to reach on foot or via public transport. A good spot for exotic species such as Common Myna, Alexandrine Parakeet and Rose-ringed Parakeet. The park also has a breeding colony of Grey Heron in the canopy. During the migration period surprising birds can turn up in the park.

Access

5 minutes walking distance from Hagia Sophia or Blue Mosque. The T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar tram line just crosses in front of the entrance. "Gülhane" is the name of station.
