Description

Taipei Botanical Garden was the first botanical garden in Taiwan. This green oasis with more than 2,000 plant species is a good place to see some nice birds in the city of Taipei. Good spot for birding is the Lotus Pond where waterbirds often gather and the Butterfly Ginger Pool where you might spot birds like the Taiwan Blue-Magpie. There are many paths that you can explore. Among the other birds you have a good chance to observe are White-breasted Waterhen, Black-crowned Night Heron, Malayan Night-Heron, Crested Goshawk, Taiwan Barbet, Black-naped Monarch, White-rumped Shama, Gray Treepie, Swinhoe's White-eye, Oriental Magpie-Robin, Taiwan Scimitar-Babbler, Light-vented Bulbul and Black Bulbul.

The Taipei Botanical Garden is located in the Nanhai Academy on Nanhai Road in Zhongzheng District in Taipei. The garden is closed on Monday but in the rest of the week open every day from 06:00 to 20:00. Entrance is free. Due to limited parking near the garden, it's advised to get there by public transport. By Metro: MRT- Xiaonanmen station, take exit 3. By Bus: Bus stop Botanical Garden, Bus line 1, 242, 624, 907, B28, or Heping Main Line.
