Park that was established to protect the Pheasant-tailed Jacana , a bird species that was once on the brink of extinction in Taiwan.
The Pheasant-tailed Jacana Conservation Park is located in Tainan and covers an area of 15 hectares. It includes artificial wetlands designed to provide a suitable habitat for Pheasant-tailed Jacana. Visitors can enjoy guided tours and educational activities to learn about the importance of eco-conservation. The park is a great example of successful conservation efforts, as the population of these birds has significantly increased since the park's establishment.
Besides Pheasant-tailed Jacana you can observe many other species of birds. Especially ducks, herons, waders and water birds such as Greater Painted-snipe, Black-winged Stilt, Little Grebe, Little Ringed Plover, Oriental Pratincole, Wood Sandpiper and Black-crowned Night Heron.
The Pheasant-tailed Jacana Conservation Park is located in Tainan in the Guantian District, west of Wushantou Reservoir and south of the flood-relief channel. By Train: Longtian Station is a short walk southwest to the park. By Car: you can park your car along Yulong Road, which is near the park. Press P on the map for directions or coordinates. By Bus or taxi: You can also use local buses or taxis to reach the park from various parts of Tainan.
There is no entrance fee. Opening hours: Sunday: 09:00 – 17:00. Monday: Closed. Tuesday: 09:00 – 17:00. Wednesday: 09:00 – 17:00. Thursday: 09:00 – 17:00. Friday: 09:00 – 17:00.
