From factory pond to nature paradise. The 2 hectare pond has reed belts in the northern part and willow alder forest in the southern part.
The Gerlafinger Weiher was created in 1896 by artificial damming. It served as a reservoir for the utility water supply of Von Roll-Werke. The lake offers a diverse vegetation and around it developed a floodplain forest. Today it is an important wintering site for Mallard (up to several hundred), Common Teal and Gadwall.
There is a parking at the train station. Click on the P in the map to get directions. From the parking on foot you can reach the observation tower in a few minutes.
