The area consists of an alluvial forest with gravel banks, mountain meadows and pastures with bushes and hedges. In addition, the Reuss flows through the area.

Description

Species such as Lesser Redpoll, Common Rosefinch, Marsh Warbler, Garden Warbler, Fieldfare, Spotted Flycatcher or Eurasian Wryneck can be observed in the floodplain forest . On the gravel banks along the Reuss there are Common Sandpiper, White-throated Dipper and Grey Wagtail. The following species can be observed in the pastures and meadows: Water Pipit, Tree Pipit, Northern Wheatear, Short-toed Snake Eagle, European Honey-buzzard, Whinchat, White-faced Whistling Duck, Red-backed Shrike.

The floodplain area is located between the villages of Hospental and Realp. You can explore the area on foot. A circular walk around the area is about 3 km.
