Description
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, White-tailed Eagle, Northern Wheatear, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Common Redshank, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Ruff, Eurasian Curlew, Black-tailed Godwit, Avocet and Dunlin, but also other species such as Little Tern, Caspian Tern and Arctic Tern. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Barnacle Goose can be seen in the area.
