Description
Stadsjön has wetland areas, forest, meadows, reed beds and river habitats. This variety attracts many birds. Along the hiking trail you can walk or roll straight through wetlands, experience rainforest-like deciduous forest, and look out over the open wet meadows where cows graze. From the newly built lookout tower you look out over the beautiful landscape. If you are lucky, the White-tailed Eagle can come gliding over, or you can hear Sedge Warbler singing. During spring and autumn, the reserve is visited by large numbers of resting birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Northern Shoveler, Tufted Duck, Marsh Tit, Garden Warbler, Golden Eagle, Western Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Common Raven, Western Yellow Wagtail, Yellowhammer, Lesser White-fronted Goose, Rough-legged Buzzard, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Teal, Common Goldeneye, Goosander, Common Cuckoo, Water Rail, Common Crane, Eurasian Curlew, Dunlin, Eurasian Woodcock, Common Snipe, Great Snipe, Common Redshank, Wood Sandpiper, Common Greenshank, Black-throated Diver, Common Tern, Osprey, European Honey-buzzard, Red Kite, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Tawny Owl, Eurasian Wryneck, Black Woodpecker, Eurasian Hobby, Peregrine Falcon, Great Grey Shrike, Grasshopper Warbler, White-throated Dipper, Thrush Nightingale and Bluethroat.
