Large boulders and fallen trees have made this small area earn the title of one of Swedens 30 national parks.
Norra kvill is only a small national park and perfect for a shorter hike. Its large and plenty of fallen trees offer food, shelter and nesting oppurtunities for many birds. Birds that are at home here include woodpeckers like Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Green Woodpecker and Black Woodpecker as well as owls like Boreal Owl and Eurasian Pygmy Owl. Although rare Hazel Grouse and Western Capercaillie have also been seen here.
The terrain is hilly and proper shoes and clothing is advised. There are several benches along the trails. In the middle of the park there is a forest lake.
From Vimmerby it is around a 30 minute drive on the road towards Norra vi. See the P in the map below for better directions. The parking area is along the road. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 4 km.
