Description

Lillängsgölen is easily accessible by a bird observation tower. The lake is best from May to June when the breeding birds arrive. In the reed Sedge Warbler, Water Rail and Reed Bunting breed. On the coastal wetlands Common Crane, Eurasian Woodcock Common Snipe and Northern Lapwing breed. Red-throated Diver, Slavonian Grebe, Mallard, Common Teal, Whooper Swan and Common Goldeneye breed on the lake. Some years Green Sandpiper, Common Pochard, Canada Goose, Western Marsh Harrier, andEurasian Hobby breed.

In the forest around many pine favouring birds breed, some more common are Black Grouse, Crested Tit, Red-backed Shrike, Western Capercaillie, Dunnock, Eurasian Wryneck, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Common Chiffchaff, Osprey, Sparrowhawk, and Common Buzzard.

Lillängsgölen is located 18 km northeast of Eksjö. There is a small parking lot next to the road. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. The trail to the birding tower (500 m) is not clearly marked.
