Description
In and around Gammalsby Sjömarker 308 birds have been recorded (299 at Sebybadet, and 271 at Gräsgårds hamn). Gammalsby Sjömarker is one of Ölands most important resting places for waders during the spring migration. The wide coastal meadows and shallow waters often hold tens of thousands of Dunlin, thousands of European Golden Plover, Northern Lapwing, Bar-tailed Godwit and Grey Plover. Many rare wading birds have been seen during the spring and autumn migration.
Gammals by sjömarker is also an important resting place for geese, especially Barnacle Goose. From Gammalsby Sjömaker large amounts of migrating geese, ducks, waders, terns, gulls and passeringe birds can often be found.
