Description
Fläcksjön is a lake with surrounding wetland mainly known for its rich bird life. Although most of the nature reserve is occupied by more or less open fields and wet grasslands, there are also different types of forest environments, mainly in the western part. In Fläcksjön you can observe lots of swans, geese and ducks. The Whooper Swan often arrives early, already from the end of February and when they are at their peak, the cacophony from hundreds of swans is impressive. During May you have the opportunity to see some wading birds, such as Common Snipe, Green Sandpiper, Ruff and Eurasian Curlew.
Other birds that can be observed in the area are Black Tern, Common Tern, Common Crane and Common Goldeneye. On summer nights you can sometimes hear Great Bittern, Corn Crake and Spotted Crake within the reserve area. You have a chance to see White-tailed Eagle in the area all year round. A good place to see Whooper Swan is in the outlet of the Svartån river.
