Baltic Sea bird migration viewpoint. Mainly migrating seabirds but also large accumulations on the open water. The place is well suited for visits with groups.
Femöre Huvud is located high and has a good view towards the island Vinterklasen where Razorbill can be observed. The fairway adjacent to Oxelösund and Norrköping passes in from the outer archipelago where Hävringe (former pilot station) can be seen on the horizon. The spring migration is mainly dominated by Common Eider, Common Shelduck and Caspian Tern. The autumn migration can be impressive with ducks, birds of prey, swallows, finches and pigeons. The observations are quite dependent on the wind direction, with onshore winds the birds fly closer to land. Winter time observations are dependent on the ice situation and access to open water. There can be large numbers of Long-tailed Duck, Common Eider, Tufted Duck, occasional Smew, Black-throated Diver and Great Crested Grebe. At the edge of the beach there are sometimes some White-throated Dipper.
Good parking possibilities by car, with bicycle available all the way to the front. The venue is best experienced from some high vantage points.
