Description
The Fågelkullen observation site and viewpoint is on a hill on the western side of Abiskojåkka. You can walk via the Abiskojåkka canyon or the trail to the west. The path to the Fågelkullen viewpoint is a small detour north towards Torneträsk. There is a windbreak on site. The delta itself is a bird protection area with access prohibited from May 1st to July 31st. Normally seen and heard here Common Redshank, Wood Sandpiper, Black-throated Diver, Red-throated Diver, Common Teal, Eurasian Wigeon, and Arctic Tern. During May/June and August arctic waders such as Little Stint, Temminck's Stint, Ruff, Red-necked Phalarope and Whimbrel rest in the area. Occasionally one can see Rough-legged Buzzard, Merlin, Long-tailed Skua, Greater Scaup, Common Scoter, Velvet Scoter, Long-tailed Duck and Sand Martin.

Access
You can park at the Abisko tourist station. Click on the P in the map for directions. From there it is about a 1 kilometer walk to the platform along a gravel road and path. You can also make a nice hike along the Abiskojåkka canyon. Here you can see and hear Bluethroat, Common Redstart, Dunnock and White-throated Dipper. From August 1, when the trespassing ban ends, you can walk out on the delta.
