The avifauna present in the riverbed of the Río Segura is mainly made up of colonies of herons, Great Cormorant and Common Kingfisher in winter, other aquatic birds remain to a greater or lesser extent throughout the year, being able to see Eurasian Coot, Eurasian Moorhen, Little Grebe and Mallard. But also birds like Golden Oriole, Common Swift, European Bee-eater and Sardinian Warbler.

La avifauna presente varía según la época del año, pudiendo diferenciar entre cuatro periodos: invernada, reproducción (estival), pasos migratorios prenupcial y postnupcial. Está compuesta principalmente por colonias de ardeidas, cormorán grande y martín pescador en invierno, otras aves acuáticas se mantienen en mayor o menor medida durante todo el año, pudiendo avistarse focha común, gallineta común, zampullín chico y anade azulón.
