Small peninsula in the southernmost part of the Ebro Delta. Good for observing Greater Flamingo and a very important site for breeding Audouin's Gull.
Punta de la Banya is a small peninsula in the southernmost part of the Ebro Delta. It extends off the coast of Sant Carles de la Ràpita and is connected to the Delta de l'Ebre via the Isthmus El Trabucador (a long sand barrier 4 km long and 100 to 200 meters wide). This peninsula demarcates the maritime area known as the Bay of Els Alfacs and is at the same time the largest natural harbor in Europe. Punta de la Banya is of great importance for the nesting of Audouin's Gull. 60% of the world's population breeds here.
NOTE: the Punta de la Banya, as well as El Trabucador beach, is a partial natural reserve. This means that access is restricted all year long, except between July 15 and September 15. During these two months, access is possible without a vehicle.
