The Parc de la Ciutadella is home to a monumental waterfall, pond and romantic English-style garden, surrounded by two tree-lined boulevards. There are also several museums and the Barcelona Zoo on site. The park is good for some easy birding in the city. Among the birds you can encounter are European Serin, Coal Tit, Crested Tit, Monk Parakeet, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Grey Wagtail, Sardinian Warbler, Blackcap, Black-headed Gull, Yellow-legged Gull, Mediterranean Gull, Alpine Swift, Long-tailed Tit and Black Redstart. You can even get some surprises from time to time, such as seeing a Sacred Ibis, Woodchat Shrike or Eurasian Hoopoe.

Access

The Barcelona Metro and Trambesòs station Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica, on L4, is named after the park and the nearby area Vila Olímpica. The entrance to the park, however, is closer to the metro and Rodalies Barcelona (commuter train network) station Arc de Triomf. The city's central bus station Estació del Nord is also close.
