Description

Balsa Muskildigorriko Uharka is a Zona de Especial Conservación (Special Area of Conservation). The wetland is a great point to observe migrating birds. During migration periods you can see bird species that stop to rest occasionally, especially when the conditions for crossing the Pyrenees are not ideal. Birds you can observe include Common Pochard, Northern Shoveler, Common Teal, Little Grebe, Common Snipe and Western Marsh Harrier. There is also a lot of diversity in the surroundings. For example beech forests where you can observe the White-backed Woodpecker.

Espagnol: La balsa Muskildigorriko Uharka, conocida también como la de la Yeguada es un lugar donde suelen parar especies durante la migración. En el entorno hay mucha diversidad y este es un punto donde pueden observarse aves pasantes. Es parte de una ZEC de Navara donde en los bosques de hayas podemos observar el pico dorsiblanco. Este punto, ya que se trata de un humedal, tiene unas caracteristicas diferenciales. En las epocas de migración se pueden observar especies que se detienen a descansar de forma puntual. Sobretodo cunado las condiciones para cruzar los pirineos no son las idoneas.

Access

Balsa Muskildigorriko Uharka is located 25 km north of the city of Pamplona. From Pamplona you can get there by following the N-121-A and taking the detour to the NA-411 towards Lizaso until you reach Auza. Press P on the map for directions.
