Description
Sulina is a small village on the last point of Danube river. It is an attractive place to witness the greatness of the Danube. There are many small ponds and streams around to observe waterfowl, waders, egrets and pelicans. The coastline is also teeming with gulls, terns and waders. Birds you can encounter are Dalmatian Pelican, Great White Pelican, Squacco Heron, Purple Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Pygmy Cormorant, European Roller, European Turtle Dove, Stone-curlew, Black-winged Stilt, Whiskered Tern, White-winged Tern and many more. Access
There is no road to Sulina. Only ferry works from Tulcea city center. The total trip takes approx 4h 30 mins. After getting off in Sulina, you can explore the birding areas in the eastern and southern part of village. Walking is the best and only way to explore the area.

During the travel, the ferry stops in several docks and gives great opportunity to observe close lakes. You can see many pelican colonies, raptors and egrets. The area itself is full of suprises and is worth to be discovered in each corner. It isgood to be careful and be aware of snakes resting in bushes and flood areas.
