Description
Jezioro Zygmunta Augusta (also called Czechowski Lake) is an old reservoir. On the southwestern shore of the lake is the village of Czechowizna. The lake has a size of 500 hectares and the shores have large reed beds. The reservoir is used for breeding carp. Many birds are attracted to the lake especially during migration periods. Among the birds you can encounter are White-tailed Eagle, Western Marsh Harrier, Common Pochard, Northern Shoveler, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Whooper Swan, Northern Lapwing, Little Gull, Black Tern, Eurasian Skylark, Yellowhammer and Great Reed Warbler.
