The Sophiapolder is a small nature reserve with creeks, islands and wetlands and very good birding.
The Sophiapolder is a nature reserve since 1997. It has a permanent island and several islands that only appear when the water level is falling. The open water, the banks and the grassland attract many birds. Breeding birds include Mediterranean Gull, Avocet, Little Ringed Plover, Barnacle Goose, Sedge Warbler, Sand Martin, Black-tailed Godwit and Black-necked Grebe. Eurasian Spoonbill are often seen, just like Peregrine Falcon who likes to catch a bird here.
