Nature reserve with small ponds, woods, grasslands and wet areas. Lots of variety means lots of birds. Easy to detect 60 different bird species in one day.
Pannenhoef is a nature reserve of approximately 706 hectares located between Zundert, Etten-Leur and Rijsbergen. The area has woods, fens, avenues, streams and flowery grasslands. During a walk you can encounter all species of woodpeckers in the Netherlands: Black Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Eurasian Green Woodpecker. Chances are that you will hear a Eurasian Goshawk and with a lot of luck you will see a Great Grey Shrike or Eurasian Nightjar. In the area you can easily see 60 bird species in a day. Among the other birds you can see here are Common Raven, Common Nightingale, Bluethroat, Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Eurasian Hobby and Tawny Owl.

Tijdens een wandeling kun je alle soorten spechten van Nederland tegenkomen: de groene, zwarte en drie bonte. Grote kans dat u de havik hoort en met veel geluk zie je een klapekster of nachtzwaluw. In het gebied kun je op een dag gemakkelijk 60 vogelsoorten zien.
Oosteindseweg, at the end is a parking area. There are several marked hiking trails. A route of 7 km is shown on the map below, but there are many other nice paths to explore the area.
