Damp meadow and wetland nature reserve with extraordinairy rich population of meadow bird species. Vital breeding colony for Black-tailed Godwit.
Ottershagen is a rich meadow bird area. Almost all species that belong in a wet meadow area can be found here. Northern Lapwing, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Black-tailed Godwit, Western Yellow Wagtail and Northern Shoveler breed in great densities. That is unique in the province of Overijssel. Common Redshank, Eurasian Curlew, Eurasian Skylark and Ruff also regularly show themselves.

Travel from Oud-Ootmarsum to Lattrop via Ottershagenweg. Turn left at Kerspelweg. After a short while the road turns unpaved and you will see the bird observatory on the left hand side. Preferably park your car before the road turns sandy and walk towards the observatory shed.
