Description
The recreational lake Cattenbroek consists of two parts. A large lake intended for recreation and a smaller natural lake for water birds in the northeastern part which is called Natuurplas Breeveld. The two lakes are separated by a wooden wall, the Potterskade. Natuurplas Breeveld is a quiet lake with many water birds and small warblers in the bushes around it. The beautifully sheltered lake borders a large reed and marsh area and sailing is not permitted on Natuurplas Breeveld. Many water birds can often be seen in and around the lake. An American Wigeon was spotted here in January 2024.

Nederlands: Recreatieplas Cattenbroek is een meer in Woerden. De plas bestaat uit twee delen, waarvan het noordoostelijke deel de Natuurplas Breeveld voor watervogels is, en de grote plas voor recreatie is bedoeld. Deze twee plassen worden gescheiden door een houtwal, de Potterskade. Natuurplas Breeveld is een stille plas met veel watervogels en kleine zangers in de bosschages eromheen. De mooi beschut gelegen plas grenst aan een groot riet- en moerasgebied en er mag op Natuurplas Breeveld niet gevaren worden. Vaak zijn er veel watervogels in en om de plas te zien. Januari 2024 is hier een American Wigeon gespot.

Access
The Cattenbroekplas is located east of the city of Woerden. There is an almost 4 km long walking circuit around the lake. Park on the south side of the Cattenbroekplas, and then walk around the recreational lake. On the north side you have a view over the natural lake Natuurplas Breeveld.

Nederlands: De Cattenbroekplas ligt ten oosten van Woerden. Er ligt een bijna 4 km lang wandelcircuit rond de plas. Parkeer aan de zuidkant van de Cattenbroekplas, en ga vervolgens te voet rondom de recreatieplas. Aan de noordzijde heb je uitzicht over de Natuurplas Breeveld.
