Description
Landgoed Oostbroek is an old landlord's domain thus it has some park estatics, but there is also a lot of wet forests where not a lot of human interference is taking place. Because of the many landscape elements there are surprisingly many species for the small patch of land. In the forest you can find many common forest species like Eurasian Nuthatch, Marsh Tit, Great Tit and Great Spotted Woodpecker. In the creek we find a lot of Mallard, Gadwall, Eurasian Coot and Little Grebe. But species like the Grey Heron, Great Egret, Common Pochard, Eurasian Green Woodpecker are also present. The Common Buzzard nests in the woods and occasionally has some conflicts with the Carrion Crow or Eurasian Goshawk. In the summer Reed Warbler nests in the reed fields where also a lot of roe deer can be found. Also interesting is the high chance of an encounter with the grass snake who is very present in the creeks.

Nederlands: Landgoed Oostbroek is een kleine natuurparel gelegen naast het Utrecht Science Park. Het landgoed was het domein van een oude landheer en heeft daarom veel weg van een park. Maar er zijn ook veel natte bossen waar niet veel menselijk ingrijpen plaatsvindt. Door de vele landschapselementen zijn er verrassend veel soorten voor het kleine stukje land. In het bos vind je veel voorkomende bossoorten zoals Eurasian Nuthatch, Marsh Tit, Great Tit en Great Spotted Woodpecker. In de sloten en waterpartijen vind je veel Mallard, Gadwall, Eurasian Coot en Little Grebe. Maar ook soorten als de Grey Heron, Great Egret, Common Pochard en Eurasian Green Woodpecker komen voor. De Common Buzzard nestelt in het bos en heeft af en toe conflicten met de Carrion Crow of Eurasian Goshawk. In de zomer nestelt Reed Warbler in de rietvelden waar ook veel reeën te vinden zijn. Interessant is ook de grote kans op een ontmoeting met een ringslang die zeer aanwezig is in de sloten.

There is a little entrance from Utrechts Landschap at the Utrecht Science park side. You can only walk around in the little park, which is more than sufficient.
