Bochtjesplaat is a wet area in National Park Lauwersmeer where many geese and waders rest and forage.
Bochtjesplaat is located on the Frisian side of the Lauwersmeer between Ezumazijl and Oostmahorn. Bochtjesplaat is a nice open place for birdwatching. You have good views from the former sea dike. Among the birds you can see here are Brent Goose, Barnacle Goose, Whooper Swan, Common Shelduck, Northern Shoveler, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Common Cuckoo, Water Rail, Spotted Crake, Black-winged Stilt, Avocet, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Grey Plover, European Golden Plover, Northern Lapwing, Common Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, Bar-tailed Godwit, Black-tailed Godwit, Ruff, Curlew Sandpiper, Dunlin, Purple Sandpiper, Jack Snipe, Common Snipe, Red-necked Phalarope, Green Sandpiper, Common Redshank, Little Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Caspian Tern, Black Tern, Common Tern, Eurasian Spoonbill, Great Egret, Little Egret, Western Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, White-tailed Eagle, Rough-legged Buzzard, Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, Eurasian Skylark, Bearded Tit, Sedge Warbler, Bluethroat, Whinchat, Northern Wheatear andWestern Yellow Wagtail.

Vanaf de voormalige zeedijk heb je goed uitzicht.
