Description
The KM 19 pool is famous for its Lichtenstein's Sandgrouse that come in to drink at dusk. The pool is also good for ducks, herons and waders. Among the birds that can be seen are Garganey, Northern Pintail, Spur-winged Lapwing, White-throated Kingfisher, Masked Shrike, Greater Flamingo, Ferruginous Duck, Asian Green Bee-eater, Black-winged Stilt, Ruff, Common Greenshank, Eurasian Spoonbill, Slender-billed Gull, Caspian Tern, Western Marsh Harrier, Purple Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron and Little Bittern. Access
The ponds are located 19 km north of Eilat. Come off Route 90 from the south, drive due east. Passable for all kinds of vehicles. Some parts may be muddy at times.
