Description

The natural heritage area of Zschornoer Wald was created on the site of the former air force training area. On the former shooting range, an open land area with dry sand grass and heathland was created. The Red-backed Shrike can be seen on the blackberries. In early spring, the Eurasian Pygmy Owl can be heard.

Access

The approximately 628-hectare nature reserve stretches north of the village of Zschorno. Since it is a protected forest area, the car must remain outside. The area is best reached by bicycle. Or of course on foot.

The site can be reached by the 868 bus to Zschorno on weekdays, running from Bad Muskau to Döbern (with connections on to Cottbus). Buses from Jerischke to the north mostly require calling ahead, so are less useful.
