Description
The in parts newly rewetted polders around Anklam are ideal, especially those around the river Peene, for observing special breeding birds as well as many migrants during the whole season. The large scale water areas inhabit a huge amount of waterfowl with species like Northern Shoveler, Garganey and Greylag Goose. Besides reed breeders such as Western Marsh Harrier and Sedge Warbler, sometimes Black-necked Grebe and Whiskered Tern are found there with several pairs, not to forget all the other species of their belonging groups. Furthermore, depending on the season, different birds of prey like White-tailed Eagle , Montagu's Harrier or Eurasian Hobby can also be discovered here.
