Beach with a young salt marsh. Probably the best observation area for waders in Wilhelmshaven.
Nordstrand Wilhelmshaven - Jade-Weser-Port consists of a strip of washed-up sand that forms a wide beach and delimits a salt marsh. Since the extensive coastal and dyke area in the area is unfortunately concreted, some waders, gulls and ducks are concentrated in this area. It is probably the best observation area for waders in Wilhelmshaven. In winter this is a pretty reliable place to watch Twite. On the lake side, interesting ducks can often be observed like (Common Goldeneye, Goosander etc.) On the fallow areas of the Jade-Weser-Port you can also see some birds of the open country. Here you can find Eurasian Skylark, Northern Wheatear and Northern Lapwing, and occasionally Hen Harrier.
The north beach is difficult to approach by car, as there is no parking at the dike entrance. A little further, however, is a memorial stone with an area for parking. Click on the P in the map to get directions. The Jade-Weser-Port can be accessed by car. By bike access is possible anywhere.
