Description

Moosschwaige has surprisingly varied habitats. There are reedbeds (Reed Warbler, Great Reed Warbler), ponds and streams (Water Rail, Common Kingfisher) with attached wetland being actively maintained by beavers. There are also woods and grassland.

Star species are Icterine Warbler, Red-backed Shrike and Common Cuckoo in the summer, Great Grey Shrike in the winter, and woodpeckers all year round, including Lesser Spotted Woodpecker , Grey-headed Woodpecker and Black Woodpecker.

Access

Moosschwaige is located in the west of Munich, reachable from Aubing or Freiham S-Bahn (30 minute walk). Allow at least two hours to explore. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 4 km.
