Marsh, heathland and a some thinly forested parts. In the autumn evening twilight a beautiful spot to watch the entry of big groups of Common Crane.
At Mittleres Wietingsmoor there is a narrow road between marsh and moors. During the autumn migration in the evening twilight a beautiful entry of the many Common Crane that settle with the many Greylag Goose and Greater White-fronted Goose. Halfway along the road is a reasonable parking space from where you can admire the spectacle at an appropriate distance. This place is a lot quieter than the more popular moors with the lookout towers. (they are also beautiful, but are visited quite a lot).
From Diepholtz direction Sulingen. At Freistatt turn left through the village onto the street Deckertau. There is a parking space halfway. To visit by bike and by car. You can also walk, but it is very remote. Mittleres Wietingsmoor has the same large flocks of birds as the surrounding peat bogs, but is less visited.
