A small but birdrich wetland next to a creek, with fields and a little forest.
The beautiful nature reserve Merklinger Ried is a protected area of approximately 18 hectares. The wetland is an ideal habitat for numerous animal species (birds, amphibians, insects). Over the years, more than 100 bird species have been identified, some of which are of course only migrants. There are lots of water-loving birds year-round, my favorite being Common Kingfisher. Lots and lots of other birds depending on the season. Like Grey Wagtail, Mallard, Eurasian Green Woodpecker and Marsh Tit.
Park in the bordering neighborhood and walk a big round along the entire preservation area (2,5 km).
