Description
The Krakower Obersee nature reserve is an old nature reserve in Mecklenburg. It is the southern part of the Krakower See and includes the islands in the lake and the adjacent Dobbiner Niedermoor. White-tailed Eagle can be seen very well in the area. Many water birds can be observed all year round: Great Cormorant , Greylag Goose, Mallard , Gadwall , Tufted Duck , Common Pochard , Northern Shoveler , Grey Heron , Great Egret , Black-headed Gull , European Herring Gull. In the winter months it serves the Nordic geese and swans as resting and sleeping waters. Especially during the autumn migration in November and December, up to 15,000 Taiga Bean Goose and Greater White-fronted Goose come in at dusk with a great spectacle.

There is a visitor center at the nature park administration in Karow.. The circular route around the whole lake is about 18 km.
