Description
In a loop of the river Moselle in the far northeast of Trier lies the Kenner Flur. Birds can be observed in the lakes created by gravel mining, in the adjoining patches of forest and in the surrounding open fields. The shores of the quarry ponds are steep and ideal for Sand Martin, which can create their nesting burrows here. Among the birds you can encounter are Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Gadwall, Little Ringed Plover, Northern Lapwing, Jack Snipe, Common Snipe, Great Cormorant, Red Kite, Eurasian Skylark, Greater Whitethroat, Common Nightingale, Western Yellow Wagtail and Yellowhammer.
