Description
The Horbachpark was created as part of the state garden show of 1988. The little Horbach stream flows through the park and into a lake. There are many paths and benches throughout the park. The lake and the surrounding grass and reed fringes are home to Mute Swan, Mallard, Eurasian Coot and Eurasian Moorhen. Around the edges of the park and beyond, there is an attractive mix of gardens and allotments. These host a good variety of Tits, Finches and Woodpeckers, including Marsh Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Hawfinch, Eurasian Siskin and Eurasian Green Woodpecker.
In the woods adjacent to the park, it is possible to observe Coal Tit, Crested Tit and Goldcrest. Raptors like Common Buzzard, Red Kite and Eurasian Goshawk can often be seen soaring over the woods and slopes above the town. If you're in Ettlingen the park is well worth a visit. It's also a great place to combine family time at the playground with a bit of birding.
