The Engerser Feld is one of the most important rest areas in Rhineland Palatinate. Ducks and many waterfowl, limicoles rest here in large numbers.
The Engerser Feld is of international importance as a bird sanctuary and resting place for bird migration. It has a great biodiversity and many birds can be seen like Smew, Red-necked Grebe, Common Sandpiper, Little Ringed Plover, Green Sandpiper, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Sand Martin and Common Kingfisher.
You can park at Hafenstraße 100 in Neuwied (see the P on the map), and explore the area on foot from there. The route you see on the map is about 5 km.
