Description
The Blautopf is a spring that serves as the source of the river Blau in the karst landscape on the Swabian Jura's southern edge. A small area with a spring that is beautifully blue. Because of its high water pressure, the spring has developed a funnel-like shape with a depth of 21 metres. The water's peculiarly blue color varies in intensity depending on weather and flow. Walking around the spring, you will see the White-throated Dipper in the shallow, fast-flowing water. Other birds that can be seen on the lake and the surrounding area are Grey Wagtail, Mallard, Goosander (in winter), Red Kite, Marsh Tit and Blackcap.
