Prairies de Marnay is one of the largest ornithological sites in Burgundy to observe birds on a migratory stopover. During the migration period you can observe most species of wetland birds from Western Europe such as Northern Pintail, Eurasian Spoonbill, Common Shelduck, Whimbrel, Black Stork or the Caspian Tern. During the nesting period White Stork is common as well as Cattle Egret but also grassland birds like Whinchat. The site also attracts rare birds such as Purple Swamphen in summer.
