This observatory offers a bird's eye view of an ancient pond whose reed bed is home to interesting bird species.
Observatoire de l'étang Ricot is a good bird hide for observing reed birds like Little Bittern en Reed Warbler in spring and summer. Also a good observation point for the European Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis). In winter, different species of ducks and Eurasian Coot overwinter in the lake. With luck, a Great Bittern or deer may cross the pond. Observation is recommended in the morning and late afternoon. Other birds you can encounter are Western Marsh Harrier, Whiskered Tern, Black-crowned Night Heron, Little Egret, Water Rail, Common Nightingale and European Turtle Dove.

Bon point d'observation pour la Cistude d'Europe. En hiver, canards et foulques se partagent l'espace. La chance aidant, un Butor étoilé ou des cerfs peuvent traverser l'étang. Observation : recommandée le matin et en fin d'après-midi.
