Description
The area around Ille-sur-Tête has a very varied landscape with the river Têt running in the middle and making a huge canyon. There is also forest, dry hills and agricultural land. In the forest you can find woodpeckers like Eurasian Wryneck, Eurasian Green Woodpecker (subspecies sharpei) and Great Spotted Woodpecker. In the surrounding dry mediteranean hills you can find species like Sardinian Warbler, Great Spotted Cuckoo, Crested Lark and Common Raven. This area can also be very good for spring migration with raptors like Short-toed Snake Eagle, Black Kite and Montagu's Harrier.
The area itself is very beautiful with the nearby Orgues and can offer shade when it is too hot in the summer.
