Description
This small area of fallow land with a couple of bushes at Col de la Gineste is interesting for birdwatching. On one side of the area is a bushy area, on the other side is a mountanious and rocky area. On the fallow area you can observe different resting passerines during migration season. For example Northern Wheatear, Pied Flycatcher, Wood Lark, Common Redstart, Tree Pipit, Eurasian Skylark, European Robin or Meadow Pipit.
On the bushy side of the area typical southern French breeding birds can be observed, such as Sardinian Warbler, Dartford Warbler, European Stonechat, Subalpine Warbler or Red-legged Partridge. Other migrants which can be observed are Common Cuckoo, Montagu's Harrier, Black Stork, White Stork, Ortolan Bunting, Alpine Swift, European Bee-eater, European Honey-buzzard or Short-toed Snake Eagle. These migrant species mainly pass overhead.
