Description
The hamlet of Kutuniva is located in the north of Finland on the junction between the big lake of Jerisjärvi and the smaller lake Törmäslompolo. Kutuniva is the best place to spot swans and other birds in winter because no matter how cold it gets, this stream stays open. Among the birds you can encounter are Whooper Swan, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Siberian Tit, Siberian Jay, Eurasian Bullfinch and White-throated Dipper. I visited the area at the end of February so I cannot give info concerning the other seasons of the year. So if you have any aditional info about other seasons or birds, please leave a comment below.

Access
Kutuniva is located on Jerisjärvi lake by the Pallaksentie road to Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and is therefore easily accessible without any snowmobile or skis, unlike most of the nature destinations in Lapland during winter months. There is a small parking lot right before Kutuniva on the left side of the road. There is also a bus stop just next to the area with an information panel. The nearby Hotel-restaurant "Jeris" is a good place for a stop.
